I have an old PST file containing years of archived emails, and I need to locate a few specific messages. The problem is that I am working on a computer where Outlook is not installed, and I don't want to create or configure an email account just to inspect an existing archive.
The PST is basically being used as an old record of correspondence. I don't need to send emails or synchronize anything. My main requirements are to open the archive, browse its folders, read messages, and check attachments when necessary.
I started looking into SysInfo PST Viewer because standalone viewers seem more appropriate for this type of requirement. If the software can load an existing PST directly and display its mailbox structure, it could save the trouble of setting up Outlook solely for archive access.
I am particularly interested in search and navigation. The archive contains a large number of messages, so scrolling through folders manually isn't practical. Being able to identify relevant emails using available message information would make the process much faster.
Another consideration is attachments. Some of the emails I need contain PDF and Office documents, so I would like to know whether a PST file viewer can display or preview attachments without requiring the entire mailbox to be imported into Outlook.
I am also cautious about working with old PST archives. Before using any third-party application, I would make a backup of the original file. However, I would still like to know whether viewers operate in a way that leaves the source PST unchanged.
