The Boot drive is D: So I am assuming Boot drive D and not C. So why do I get an error message when I try to get the menu. Why does the computer not go to the correct place in drive D rather than some where else. How can I get it to go to the right place without sticking in a DVD.

We'll need a bit more information to be able to help.
Which system are you trying to boot ?
How many HDDs ?
What partition layout ?
Which drive is top of the BIOS HDD boot sequence ?
When (and why) did you set the timeout to zero ?
If you have W7 and W8 where is the second entry in the BCD ?
How did you install W8 ?
What error message are you getting, and when ?
If you are able to boot something by putting in an installation DVD, then a screenshot of your Disk Management display will help answer a number of the above.
The sticky thread will help you attach a screenshot.
I have 3 hhd's. For some reason I have to put a windows install disk or repair disk in the DVD tray and when I start my computer I must run it all the way through the the sequence that the dvd disk presents or else I show an error message. If I don't have a repair disk or a windows install disk in the DVD tray I always get an error message instead of going to the menu. The error message is a long message I get instead of the menu (see below). I have to start over if I get the error message. Don't know anything about setting anything to zero. I have formated the Win 8 disk so it is no longer there except a partition with some data on it. I have 7 partitions. The following is a display mode of Easy BCD 2.2:
There is one entry in the Windows bootloader.
Default: Microsoft Windows 7
Timeout: 30 seconds
Boot Drive: D:\
Entry #1
Name: Microsoft Windows 7
BCD ID: {current}
Drive: C:\
Bootloader Path: \Windows\system32\winload.exe
The error message is Status: 0xc0000098
I did not set the timeout seconds.
