Key Board Issue

I'm running Windows 7 64bit on a Dell laptop with two harddrives, each setup with Windows 7. The second hdd is an image of the first hdd.

Whenever the computer is booted, the login screen appears, however the external keyboard will not respond. I have to open the laptop to use its keyboard in order to choose any option. Once choosen, everything works fine. The keyboard is a Microsoft wireless keyboard and wasn't a problem Using EasyBCD on my old laptop running Windows 7 32bit with the same keyboard. Any suggestion on how to get the external keyboard to work?

somewhere in the BIOS of the new PC you need to enable legacy USB support.

I solved the problem by moving the USB plug for the keyboard from a USB hub and plugged it directly into a spare USB plug on the laptop.
