Kubuntu minus the Grub

Alright, so here is the deal. I use Vista, and I've attempted to install Kubuntu on a partition, and the installation was going great until I get the following message:

Kubuntu: executing grub install (hd0) failed
This is a fatal error

The installation shuts down, and as near as I can figure everything else has been installed. So I figure thats fine, I was going to use EasyBCD and as I understand it 1.7.1 has a work around for running Grubless. However, I know very little about computers, and I have no idea how I should solve this problem.

Hi Adrian, welcome to NeoSmart Technologies.

That command should work, but GRUB is known to fail in certain circumstances.
Question: What filesystems are you using? (ext3, reiserfs, xfs, etc.)
Question: Have you seen the latest instructions? Ubuntu - NeoSmart Technologies Wiki

The instructions don't follow the GRUBless method, it's up to you which you choose.
