Laptop blank screen

My laptop will turn on, and I get lights on my keyboard, the lights above the number pad and on the left by my shift button flash on and off, but the screen is blank - no curser or mouse icon, just black. I downloaded the Windows Vista 64 Recovery Disk, inserted it and restarted my computer - still nothing. The laptop makes a sound like it's looking at the cd, but only in quick bursts. I have tried F12, F11 and F8 - nothing! My laptop is an HP Pavillion Vista 64. Please help. I don't know what to do now...

I think so, I plugged it in to the tv and nothing. How else do I check?

Does it work if you unplug it from the TV? Do you see the HP Logo when you first turn it on?

Its better to check your Laptop at HP Service Center.
