MSDOS 7.1 + Win XP + Ubuntu 9.10

Before I install BCD a couple of queries:
1) I note DOS has "limited" support. Does this mean I will be wasting my time trying to get Multiboot?

2) Ubuntu doesn't 'see' DOS 7.1, only XP and itself. Is Grub 2 the issue?

3) I partitioned the disk into:
Code:
/dev/sda1 WIN95 FAT32 C:\ with DOS 7.1 installed 1st and checked OK
/dev/sda2 LINUX ext4 /boot
/dev/sda3 NTFS D:\ WIN XP installed 2nd and checked OK
/dev/sda4 Extended
/dev/sda5 LINUX ext4 / UBUNTU installed last and checked OK
/dev/sda6 LINUX ext4 /home
/dev/sda7 LINUX swap
/dev/sda8 LINUX ext4 /tmp

EasyBCD isn't a boot manager or loader. It's an app for manipulating the contents of Vista/W7 BCD.
You don't have a BCD to manipulate.
Your configuration is completely unlike mine, so I won't presume to advise in detail, but I think you might need to add a DOS entry to your XP boot.ini.
Perhaps start a web search starting somewhere like here
