Need help fixing bootloader

Long story short. Something bombed out with my computer while I was using it yesterday and I'm now no longer able to start it. I've tried using Startup Repair 3 times with no joy. So I'm going through the process of repairing. I'm at the command 'del C:\boot\bcd, and I'm getting the message "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error". Please help! I'm desperate to get this computer up and running again, I have multiple important files on it.

Best course of action before you attempt any more repairs which could compromise your user files, is to rescue them to external storage before going any further.
