Yeah, go ahead and delete your XP boot files (boot.ini, ntldr, and NTDETECT.COM) on E, since there's no point in having them there, since C is "system". Since your timeout setting is set to 10, it still seems odd that there's no boot menu when booting...:wtf:
Maybe someone will catch something else that I missed that might be the cause of it.

Cheers,

No boot menu for XP/Vista at bootup?

NP. Open command prompt: bcdedit /set {bootmgr} displaybootmenu yes

Since everything in your boot looks perfectly set up, I've been searching for the syntax of the elusive BCDedit command which has involved downloading various service packs and updates for MS word viewer just to read their BCDedit docx.
Then I come here to find Justin has beaten me to the punch by several hours.
That's the only thing I can think of, that the menu is suppressed, but how it got that way I've no idea.
We more normally get people asking how to turn it off when they have no dual boot but the menu appears.
Try the command in Justin's post. (you can use the power console in Easybcd "useful utilities" )
If that doesn't work, I can only suggest the automatic "repair startup" from the booted Vista DVD.

hi again all,
ok now all sorted , the reason nobody could solve my problem with the missing boot menu is because it was not missing but hidden.i' ll try to explain.
I have / had no monitor connected instead i use my graphics output to TV, somewhere between POST and O/S kicking in it seems to revert back to the standard monitor (VGA output?)
which explains why i had a delay (blue screen) after post waiting for o/s to start.

Thanks for once again for everyones help.

p.s.
to the moderators feel free to delete this thread or tidy it up ?
anyone looking on this forum im sure doesnt wannt to trawl through lots of uneeded messages.

Thanks for reporting back Philip.
It's nice to know when you can't find anything wrong, that there was nothing.
