[Not-a-Bug] ToolTipFixer not working

I really enjoy the functionality of ToolTipFixer 1.0.1. I have installed it on at least four of my computers, including multiple boots.

On my latest build, however, it is not working. The tool tips are always hidden, at least partially. I uninstalled and reinstalled but it didn't help. I have also tried stopping and starting the service.

This is on my Foxconn 6150BK8MC motherboard with Athlon X2 3800+, 4GB DDR 400, running Windows XP x64 Professional SP2. If there is any additional information that would be helpful, please let me know.

Hi bnborg, welcome to NeoSmart Technologies (nice cat!)

Can you open the task manager and see if tooltipfixer.exe is running?

Thanks. The cat is my buddy, Max.

Yes ToolTipFixer is running:

Process 1484 lists as ToolTipFixer.exe in Windows Task Manager. I expected this, since I could succesfully stop and start the service:

C:\>sc queryex TTFixerService

Today, however, the service seems to be running correctly. I'll see if I can duplicate the situation.

ToolTipFixer Seems OK now

I managed to get it to stop working once this morning, but I can't seem to duplicate it now. When I noticed it was not working this morning and yesterday, I had been running MMC (Microsoft Management Console) in both 32bit and 64bit modes, but not at the same time.

I was trying to figure out why I was getting errors from Group Policy not being applied correctly. I seem to have corrected that problem by resetting owner and permissions on the system drive, and all folders and files. There had been permissions for an invalid user floating around on some of these files. This must have been the problem.

If that was the problem, I don't think there is anything I can do about it?

(Though I don't see why TTF would need access (read or write) to any files...)

At any rate, good that it's working now. If you can manage to reproduce it, I'll get right on top of the issue
