OS X Issues - Matt Miller

1st Thank you for this WONDERFUL SOFTWARE ))))))))))))

I'm trying to set up a Quad Boot and have had many ups and downs.
( If you need the whole history....let me know....OSX was the last install and screwed up everything royally ! :frowning: I had to reinstall Vista, to get to EasyBCD to get me into XP....also had to reinstall/repair Server ;-(
I now have , with your products help, a successfull tri boot again:
XP
W2003 server
Vista
I have a listing for OSX during boot, but when I click on it, I get " missing ntldr "
In easy BCD from Vista, its listing as Drive D, which is my XP partition?
I don't see a seperate drive listing for OSX?

Any ideas please
THANK YOU AGAIN !

Hi Matt,

Welcome to NeoSmart Technologies.

Just delete the OS X entry in EasyBCD, then create a new one. It'll auto-assign it a drive letter, DO NOT CHANGE IT, it may look weird, but it should work.

Dear Computer Guru
Thank you for responding! Although that solution didn't work? The Drive and Bootloader Path are correct; the folder and file are there. But same message?

Go to the diagnostics tab and press "copy debug info to clipboard" then paste it here in a reply.

THANK YOU
Here it is
To repeat ; all the other OS's work fine
Just the OSX won't boot
Message : " Missing NTLDR "

PS Before I reinstalled Vista etc, OSX was attmepting to BOOT with no Boot menu!

Is \NST\ on C: or D:

If it's on C:\ then change the OS X listing to point to there.
Been there, done that!?
I have it in both C and D. ( copy and paste)
The reason being, is when I'm booted into Vista, Vista is " C" and the boot files are in "D"
When booted in XP, XP is " C " and the boot files are in "C"

Didn't help!
And I tried changing the 'pointing' as well!

I'm not sure what to tell you, there is almost no way you would get that error message.

NTLDR is for booting legacy versions of Windows. If you added an OS X entry, it'll load nst_mac.mbr instead of ntldr, so there is no reason for that error message :S

Does Boot:\NST\ have nst_mac.mbr?

THANKS FOR TRYING! I was 'hoping' for some 'magic'
And YES, the .mbr file is there! To repeat: this happened after I installed OSX to try and finish my quad boot, but to find that only OSX was booting. So in reinstalled Vista and Easy BCD to get my other OS's back! And here I am?!............
It should work??????

OK, you need to install a partition utility like Acronis or Partition Magic and use that to mark the OS X partition as "bootable"

Right now when you installed Vista you lost the ability to do that.

The correct way of doing this would have been to install OS X, use the OS X bootloader to get into Vista, run EasyBCd -> bootloader management -> reinstall vista bootloader from there - that would've been pretty safe.
