So I get a microsoft error when I try to start the EasyBCD program. It says "EasyBCD has stopped working". It gives me three files to look at: WERE14A.tmp.version.txt, WERF087.tmp.appcompat.txt, and WERF0E6.tmp.mdmp.

Inside of the first file I have the following:

Windows NT Version 6.0 Build: 6000
Product (0x3): Windows Vista (TM) Home Premium
Edition: HomePremium
BuildString: 6000.16386.x86fre.vista_rtm.061101-2205
Flavor: Multiprocessor Free
Architecture: X86
LCID: 1033

In the second file I have the following:

Code:

Any help would be much appreciated! If you need I can attach the third file as a .txt extension as I can't read a .mdmp file and if you need my dxdiag let me know!

Interesting.. thanks for the bug report.

Did previous versions of EasyBCD work for you? Have you ever successfully run EasyBCD on this machine?

No earlier versions have worked on this computer. Is there another way to reconfigure the bootloader to get a copy of XP to boot along with my current installation of vista?

Glorifen, this looks like a generic Windows/.NET problem you are encountering, because it's happening before EasyBCD even runs.

Do you know if other .NET applications run on this machine?

I was wondering if you would come to that conclusion. I can install .net 1.1 but I can't install .net 1.1 sp1 because I get a "SLxxx.tmp has stopped working" error.

I think that might be the problem - I don't think it's safe to install .net 1.1 on Vista.

Try uninstalling SP1, 1.1, and even 2.0 if you installled it.

Vista comes with .NET 3.0 built-in, so you don't need to install .NET yourself.
