Rmoving Grub (Legacy) on a WinXP/CentOS Dual-boot system

I installed WinXP. Then I installed CentOS-5 (RedHat copy) and put Grub on MBR. Then I heard about your product and would like to try it. When I start the system Grub allows me to choose between WinXP and CentOS-5, I select WinXP and installed EasyBCD. When I bring up EasyBCD, I get a popup "Error Opening BCD Registry". A message in this popup says, "The boot configuration data store could not be opened. The system cannot find the file specified. Would you like to manually load a BCD registry for EasyBCD to manage? [Yes] [No]" If I select [No], everything is greyed out and I cannot seem to do anything in EasyBCD. If I select [Yes], I can do whatever I want and it doesn't affect anything -- GRUB is there no matter what I do, save, or write. I have tried writing the WinXP boot record 10 different ways and nothing seems to touch GRUBs hold on my system. Help
