Runaway display on the "Run" command prompt

When I enter a command such as "BCDedit.exe /? " in the RUN command box and hit the ENTER key, the system displays something in split seconds and disappear. How can I control "Time to Display" on Run command prompt or freeze the display? It is a frustrating experience to a novice like me. Please help.
 
You can't use the run box to use command-line applications.

What you need to do instead is launch "cmd.exe" in the run dialog. Then once the command-prompt window shows, type in the instructions you want to execute there instead.
