Serious trouble: computer will not boot up

hello everyone. I am having trouble getting my computer to work. It boots up to the blue start screen and then the screen goes completely black. I have windows 7 64 bit. I am trying to use the windows 7 recovery disk but sadly my attempts at fixing my computer have failed. I have tested the hardware and files for errors and it says they are clean. When I system restore it says its completed but then it still won't boot! Any ideas?

Sounds like the system is getting further than the boot process. Press F8 as you boot the computer to see if you can get into safe mode and run system restore from there.
