Stuttering Audio (Skype Etc) Using RC2 - 5744

Hi guys, my first post here so hopefully you can help me out.

I am suffering with a stuttering sound when trying to chat using Skype or MSN. I have a built in Audio Controller (Intel(r) 82801BA/BAM AC'97 Audio Controller) Can anyone help? :scared:

can you repeat the fault with any other program, IE: Media Player.

also check with direct x, goto

start-->Run-->dxdiag
Select the sound tab, and click "Test Directsound"
see if the fault happens again. It maybe a driver/Windows problem rather than a program error.

Thanks for your quick response.

It seems only to be Skype and messenger chat that have the issue.

I have also tried to "test Directsound" but it is not an option in the sound tab of dxdiag!?

When I run dxdiag a message comes up saying

"DxDiag has detected there may have been a problem accessing DirectShow the last time this program was used. Would you like to bypass Direct Show this time?"

If I click "Yes" then DxDiag starts, if I click "No" a warning "Microsoft DirectX Diagnostic tool has stopped working" comes up and I have to close the program.

Any ideas?

XP. Make sure to run the utility in XP Compatibility Mode.
When prompted press "OK" to install unverified drivers.

What audio drivers are you using? Did they auto-install with Vista?

Isn't the download a .exe file? The options should be there.
Right Click - Properties - Check the different tabs. There is a "Compatability" box somewhere for sure.

As for the drivers, please clarify. Do they
a) Not install
b) Install but not work
c) Install but just don't work with Vista
d) Install and work, but still stutter.

Where did you get your current drivers from?
