The guide posted by Mahmoud Al-Qudsi on restoring the bcd for vista saved me hours!
I bought a new ASUS with windows 7, and I've been modding XP and making it do whatever I wanted for the last 6-8 years or so, but in the last week I've messed up my boot sector twice, the first time I just ended up installing a fresh copy of 7 over my old one, but wasting all weekend messing with it.
I don't like how much more touchy 7 is about having it's innards examined and played with....
Anyway, the point is: Reading what commands to use in the (worthless) "system repair" worked in less than 5 mins, after it's built in repair had failed over and over with the same errors.
