Triple Boot? really...V32, V64 & XP32..HELP!

Hey Guys,

Things are going well. Thanks for all the great info. -It doesn't help to have a backup image of a bad environment, huh, Justin?!

Ok so, the registry zap is doing the trick. D: & E: Volumes (Vista64 & Vista32, respectively) show up as "Local Disk" and I have no access to them from XP (other than seeing them--I can change the drive letter of them, but is not necessary, besides, would I screw up something else if I changed them in XP?)

As far as the pagefile goes & me wanting to use a discrete drive for all OSes swap, XP is good; I unset the swapfile from C:\ and set it to the W:\ drive (seperate disk/partition created just for this purpose). Reboot XP - swap is on W:\, weee. Tried to do the same thing in Vista, get an error that "W:\Pagefile.sys" already exists on this volume & do I wish to overwrite it?...

Just making sure--My understanding of your direction, Terry, was that that's dynamic, sort of per-session data and can be overwritten per OS load, at will... -Did I understands that right?

Or do I need a discrete location FOR EACH OS' swapfile?

Jay

You can just say "overwrite it". It's only reserved space, there's nothing in it till the OS starts running and uses it as dynamic swap space to temporarily move RAM to when the task allocating the RAM is idle.
It will delete it and reallocate it, but next time a different OS starts, it will have no way of knowing it's not the old version. It just looks for a file of that name and that size, and finds it.
