UPS Systems - What’s Your Take?

Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking about getting a UPS for my home setup—mostly to protect my PC and NAS during power outages. I live in an area where blackouts happen a couple times a year, and I’m tired of worrying about data loss or hardware damage. I’m new to this, so I’d love some advice! What brands do you recommend? How do you figure out the right size (watts/VA)? And are they worth it for a small setup, or am I overthinking this? Thanks!

I don't think it's worth the expense unless your equipment is all very high end, i.e. very expensive.
I use wall socket adapters or the special multi-outlet extension cords that are designed to surge-protect whatever is plugged into them.

Yeah, totally worth it for PC + NAS 👍

I’d go with APC or CyberPower, something around 1000–1500VA — that’s enough for safe shutdown during outages.

You don’t need huge runtime, just a few minutes. And yeah, try to get a pure sine wave model if possible.

You’re not overthinking it 🙂
