Vista Boot Mgr/Partition Table

Hope someone can help. I got the Vista "boot manager missing" message and downloaded Easy BCD. Thereafter I followed the first two recommended routines to restore my boot manager. Now I get "invalid partition table" when I boot. Fortunately I can use the Esc key during booting to get to my hard drive and manually boot through my SCSI stripe, so I can still manually boot.

I'm at my knowledge limit, however, and before trying anything else I thought I'd ask the experts what my options may be.

Earlier, I tredto repair using a borrowed Vista disc and "startup repair", but a menu asks for my drivers, which I do not know how to find, either on my hard drive or on the Vista disc.

Many thanks,

Virgil

Addendum:

As a followup, here's what my EasyBCD settings panel now says:

There is one entry in the Vista Bootloader.
Bootloader Timeout: 5 seconds.
Default OS: Windows Vista

Entry #1

Name: Windows Vista
BCD ID: (current)
Drive: C:\
Bootloader Path: \Windows\system32\winload.exe
Windows Directory: \Windows

Hope this helps assess and find a solution for my novice mind. Thanks.

Hi virgil carter,
what is the Version of your EasyBCD?

My BCD-Setting is (much) different as your BCD.
I have no "Windows Directory: \Windows"

In View Settings "Overview"
Entry #1
Name: Windows 7 German ORIGINAL
BCD ID: {current}
Drive: C:\
Bootloader Path: \Windows\system32\winload.exe

In View Settings "Detailed (Debug Mode)
Windows Boot Loader

I use the EBCD 2.0 last build.

If your Vista disk can't find a system to repair, disconnect all other HDDs temporarily before trying.
If you don't have multiple HDDs, don't go to the "load drivers" screen. Hit "next" without selecting a system. That will often do the 1st of the (probably 3) repairs necessary to fix the boot completely, and the system should be visible on the 2nd and 3rd passes.
