Vista Bootloader to MBR Grub on 2nd Drive?

Here is what I have set up as far as drives go from my motherboard's perspective:
SATA 1 - Dual boot XP/Vista
SATA 2 - no drive
SATA 3 - NTFS data drive
SATA 4 - Fedora 8 with grub on the mbr (Fedora's default).
  • par 0: /boot (ext3)
  • par 1: / (ext3)
  • par 2: /home (ext3)
  • par 3: swap
I'd like to use EasyBCD to have an entry in the Vista boot loader that will go to grub on my linux drive. However, it seems like I am unable to do this. I've tried adding linux entries for every partition on the linux drive and none of the entries boot.

Any ideas?

Hi monk, welcome to NST.

You can take a look at our Fedora dual-booting pictorial/guide here: Fedora - EasyBCD - NeoSmart Technologies Wiki

At any rate, you've run into a limitation of bootloaders: you can't run a bootloader from an MBR of a second drive, only a bootsector.

The instructions above walk you through the procedure of installing GRUB to the bootsector of the Fedora partition instead of the MBR of the second drive.

If you would like to do this manually, the instructions can be found at Linux - EasyBCD - NeoSmart Technologies Wiki in the "Reinstalling GRUB" section.

Good luck.
