HP Pavilion desktop running Vista Home Premium. For no good reason I decided to run disk cleanup. When the numbers were generated I decided to check all the boxes instead of those selected ( temp internet files, recycle bin, etc etc ). What I was left with was a desktop with all icons removed except for the file John and recycle bin. Stupidly I rebooted. Black screen.."failed to start" Insert installation disk" I don't believe I received one from Best Buy. File: \Boot\BCD Status: 0xc000000f. "An error while attempting to read the boot configuration data. On my second computer ( laptop ) I downloaded to disk "windows-vista-recovery-disk" 32x and 64x". Rebooted desktop with disk. Appears to read CD for a moment but ends up at same black screen. I read someone with Vista installation disk with command prompt "Bootrec?Rebuildbcd" enter and the BCD was rebuilt. Help? Thanks!
Addendum:
One more thing..if I press F11 at startup I get a black screen with NTLDR is missing.
