Vista dual boot using restored xp image

I just bought a new laptop that has Vista Home Premium installed. I took a backup of my old laptop with Acronis True Image and put it on a second partition I created on the new laptop. Used EasyBCD to set up the dual boot. So far so good. When I choose to boot to XP, I get the screen that says there may have been a problem and I get all the safe mode options, etc. No matter which option I choose, I see a quick flash of the starup screen and an even quicker flash of the BSOD before it reboots and sends me back to the multiboot screen. Is what I'm trying even possible or am I barking up the wrong tree? I just wanted to avoid having to reinstall all my XP apps I use for work on a clean XP partition.

Thanks in advance.

I think I have the same problem as "Vista boots, 2003 doesn't "

After reading the "Vista boots, 2003 doesn't" thread I think my problem is the same...drivers. After doing a little digging on the Acronis site, it looks like I need to download sysprep from microsoft. Hopefully that will work.
