Vista Help!!!

I need to make my old laptop out of the box condition. I need some advice. I have tried pressing F8 on start up but the windows recovery option isnt there. I have a copy of vista cd but it has been used. can i take a note of my current vista key and use the cd to install vista again, registering it with my current key.
will this work or will it say it has already been used.

any help appriciated!!! open to all answers and any other ideas/opinions of any other way to reset the computer.
 
If Vista is still running, you can use a program like this to unhash the Control Panel > System > Product ID, back to the product key from the Installation DVD box.
Quote that number when you do a fresh install and it will hash back to the correct activated ID key.
