vista, personalise menu

Sorry if this is reposting but i cannot seem to find a thread like this one.

whenever i open the personalize menu from my desktop by right clicking or from the control panel, the window opens but I try to open any of the applications there, such as; display settings, or Theme, their windows open and go immediately unresponsive.

any advice as to what the problem could be or how to fix it would be greatly appreciated, i have looked through google, but i dont think i am useing the correct search words...

your help is very much appreciated...
 
I had this problem awhile back as well. There's a temp fix but a hotfix from MS was needed for it to work across reboots. It may have been included in a service pack since then. Try getting SP2 for Vista and than see if the problem continues. Here's a quick article I googled with the details.
