Vista RTM And Bootloader Problem

Did you run boot repair with drive d: uninstalled?

If not, you should.
Yes, I did. All is well. I didn't need to convert d: to logical. I reconnected it, deleted the boot directory and the bootmgr file. Rebooted. C: drive is now System drive.

I used EBCD to rewrite MBR, but "device unknown" still shows under Boot Manager in EBCD. I don't care, because it is now booting from c:

I'm a happy camper.

Hi,

I think I have the same problem. I have 2 SATA disks. I installed Vista on the second disk also, but now the first partition on disk 2 is named D: which I want to become C:

I thought EasyBCD would have an option to just move the necesary files?

Hey Bashir,

The potential of screwing up a system completely with this feature isn't worth the risk for us. It's a lot more trouble for us to code in the feature and then deal with the thousands of people that end up with a non-booting PC because they used it wrong than it is for us to guide a couple of people on how to do it themselves

Welcome to NeoSmart Technologies, BTW, hope you stick around.
You can follow the steps outlined in this thread for all the info you need relating to this issue.
