Is there anything significantly new in XP SP 3 ?

For example,
Will it be able to solve the 32-bit OS + 4 GB RAM issue ?

No. The 4GB likit is built into the kernel. There will NEVER be a fix for it.

There are over 1000 hotfixes applied in SP3.

Is it released by windows update or does it have to be downloaded seperately?

When it goes final it will be thru Windows Update. Right now it is on RC2 Refresh 2 release 2. (basically it is like being on RC3 but they didnt state it that way.)

Find updated drivers. Use Belarc Advisor, SiSoftware Sandra or something like that to find out what sound card you have and google for drivers.
