XP in External Drive

Hey,

I replaced XP with Vista using a new HD and converted my old HD with XP into an external USB drive. EasyBCD drive for XP is greyed out...is it possible I can't boot XP using an external drive?

Hi Roach, welcome to NST.
MS doesn't like you booting from external drives. If they allowed it, you could take your portable HD round and use it on multiple systems. The validation process ties the product key to the fixed hardware.

Give HnS a shot, technically it should be able to fake the boot environment for a removable drive.
