XP only partially boots

I formerly had a dual boot system, vista/XP, on separate hard disks. I replaced the disk containing XP with a larger disk and copied XP to the new disk. When I attempt to boot XP the XP title screen comes on then the secondary screen. At this point the system freezes. I suspect there is a corrupted file in XP. Problem is my XP disk is an upgrade version only and I don't know how to proceed to run a repair.
I think the upgrade is from Windows Me.

I have an XP boot disk, but don't know how it will behave if I boot it. Will appreciate any help!

P.S. Main disk contains drives C: Vista and D:, secondary disk contains drives: E: XP, F: and G:

Also read this about the problems of making copies.

Maybe you can just do the copy again after heeding the warnings.

Just one question: When using Method #3, Kawecki's trick, what happens after you boot the Windows 98 disk and select "fdisk/mbr"?
Is there a menu to select drive E: (XP) on the 2nd partition, or will fdisk go to my drive C: (Vista) on the first partition and change the boot record in vista and disable the computer?

Why try to fix it ?
Why not just make the XP copy again using method 2 to prevent the problem.
