XP & Vista Dual Boot Fails - Abera

You're going to have to do it the hard way.

Boot from the Vista DVD, select startup repair, automatic startup repair.

I think what I am going to do is completely redo XP. This install is really messed up. I'd feel better anyway to get it going the right way. As soon as I do I'll be back with maybe some good news. For me anyhow.
Thanks and we'll seya in a bit.
Thanks!

Well right back to the same thing. I thought it would work this time. This is what I get:

Code:
The system cannot find the file specified.

Will using the Vista install disk mess me up in any way? :scared:
Thanks

This is the diag now:

Here is the diag now. Still no good. XP freezes. Is there someway to log any of this to see exactly what is going on from start to finish and by the way thanks for sticking in there with me.

Black screen? Error message? Goes back to Vista bootloader?

Post a copy of your boot.ini up please.

Yes with the black screen. No problem getting in to Vista.

No, I mean with regards to the drives and partitions and where each operating system is installed.
Are your drives RAID or normal?

This is going to be a long one, but it was everything I could find. I think the problem is with Vista. May have to reinstall it. Hope not. Right now XP is on drive D: and Vista is on drive C:

No Problem Devices

OK, let me ask you this way:

EasybCD -> Add/Remove -> Linux

See the list of drives?

which partition on which drive is vista? which is xp?

Drive 0 (C) for Vista and I don't even see XP now. I had to do a Vista recovery from the CD. It shows Drive 1 (D) and that is the XP, but not showing it that way. It's showing Vista as the only system.

There is one entry in the Vista Bootloader.
Bootloader TimeOut: 30 seconds.
Default OS: Windows Vista (TM) Home Premium (recovered)

Entry #1

Name: Windows Vista (TM) Home Premium (recovered)
BCD ID: {current}
Drive: C:\
Bootloader Path: \Windows\system32\winload.exe
Windows Directory: \Windows

If Vista doesn't see your XP partition, you can't boot to it.

"Drive 0" isn't enough.
Drive 0, partition what!?
