Ive been trying to fix the sound on my XP computer, however whenever i go to the sound and devices panel and click show volume control in destop it says:
"Windows cannot display the Volume Control Panel on the taskbar because the Volume Control program, has not been installed, to install it use Add/remove programs in the Control Panel."
I followed the instructions in this webpage:
Volume Icon Is Not Displayed in the Notification Area, and You Receive an Error Message When You Try to Add It
But when i do it this message comes up in the CMD prompt:
Expanding sndvol32.ex_ to system_root\system32\sndvol32.exe
Can't open output file: system_root\system32\sndvol32.exe
Is there a way to do this manually from the CD then i could find out if there is a problem with the CD or not?
Addendum:
turns out i was using the first set of instructions that doesnt specify the file place, or the cd was messed up (i used a new one )
