How to move MBR from the old HD?

a) why did auto-configure not say "no XP found" at post #9 if Piko didn't rename the folder.
b) why did ntdetect not get placed corrrectly when he did rename it (post #15)

a) Difficult to know without seeing the output of /bootcfg
b) Piko, please post the output of bootgrabber.exe /tlist which will show what it believes to be your boot partition.

Very straight-forward tlist there, there's no doubt that EasyBCD should have been able to make a copy of NTDETECT on drive D:, which is the active partition of disk 0.

As I wrote in post #15, I found NTDETECT on drive H: (disk 4, the USB external device) and moved it to drive C: Now I see that bootmgr file is placed on the H: drive too. Does it matter where it is? I have the older one on C: and D: too :S

OK guys I understand that you have other things to do so I thank you again and to the next time.
My boot is OK for now so it doesn’t matter if I have two or more boot.ini and bootmgr files.
Thank you!
