Dualboot XP/Vista reboots PC

Absolutely right!. I tried core2kids idea on my cloned drive and it wouldn't let me get to the OS menu. I'm back on my original drive. I did notice something interesting (maybe) while I was in the XP RC:

In Diskpart both the XP and Vista64 disks show some of the same info:

xxxxxxMB DISK 0 at ID 0 on bus 0 on nvatabus[MBR]

tho underneath that line are the correct drive letters and partition info

I'll try the F8 options if I can get them.

Addendum:

Terry,

When I can get a boot menu the F8 option is not available. When I select XP and immediately hit F8 nothing happens except the usual reboot.

I did pull out my camera and capture the flashed message when it happened. Here's what it says:

Booting Windows Vista

acpi
Vista Loader 2.1.2

ACPI: Reclaim memory not found!
Done!
fallback 1
find --set-root /bootmgr
(hd0,0)
Filesystem type is ntfs, partition type 0x7
chainloader /bootmgr

I think you're calling grub instead of NTLDR. You haven't posted the o/p from EasyBCD settings tab yet.

Sorry, forgot. Here I is:

here are a total of 2 entries listed in the Vista Bootloader.
Bootloader Timeout: 10 seconds.
Default OS: Microsoft Windows Vista

Entry #1

Name: Earlier Version of Windows
BCD ID: {ntldr}
Drive: D:\
Bootloader Path: \ntldr

Entry #2

Name: Microsoft Windows Vista
BCD ID: {current}
Drive: C:\
Bootloader Path: \Windows\system32\winload.exe
Windows Directory: \Windows

Can you paste the detailed (debug mode) version, and is there a menu.lst file in the XP root too ?
Can you post an Explorer view of your XP root in detailed view where I can see the file sizes too.

Teerry,

There's no menu.lst in the XP root. I've attached an Explorer cap of the XP root.
Here's the debug info:

I can't see anything wrong with those, so the grub messages you're getting make me think that the IPL in the MBR is going to grldr not to bootmgr, which would also explain why you can't jump in and grab NTLDR with an F8.
When the boot menu comes up, does it say that it's Vista's bootmgr, and are the options presented
"Microsoft Windows Vista" and "Earlier Version of Windows", as specified in the BCD ?
