It would seem that it is not a coincidence. I removed the linux bootloader entry and the neogrub test entry and added the test entry again (now under the proper name linux bootloader) and here you are. Kubuntu started normally again after changing the disk number. Now I have changed it in menu.lst. Hopefully this concludes this thread.
