I have a windows xp laptop and it powers up but says operating system not found
i changed the order of the boot things and it can detect the hard drive
why cant it run?

It's best to change your system, I also recently changed my system to windows 10, I don't know what computer you have, but I have a very weak one, but it pulls windows 10 is good, it does not cut so much

If you were to examine the HDD on a different PC, chances are you'd find it's corrupted and listed as RAW.
Testdisk (freeware) can possibly recover the partition structure for you which might enable you to salvage data you might want to get back, but it's highly likely that old age has put an end to your continued use of XP unless you get a new HDD and reinstall (it if you have the installation disc still.)

Hey! Dealing with "Operating System Not Found" on an old XP laptop can be frustrating. I remember having a similar issue with my vintage laptop. Sometimes, it's not just about changing the boot order but also ensuring the hard drive is recognized correctly.

I found some useful troubleshooting tips on operating systems that might help. It could be a simple matter of checking the hard drive connections or possibly needing to reinstall the OS if it's corrupted.

I ended up reconnecting my laptop's hard drive securely, and that did the trick.
