Problem with /import on BCDedit command; trying to force Win7 to boot from hard disk.

Hi all, (maybe someone can help me :scared: with the following situation)

In using the "Win 7 (64 bit) EasyRE (Recovery Essentials)" disk,
options "one" and "two" failed to get my PC to boot from the hard drive;
SO, I HAD TO TRY O3NuHo ("Option Three: Nuclear Holocaust") as described here:
http://neosmart.net/wiki/display/EBCD/Recovering+the+Windows+Bootloader+from+the+DVD

I got all steps in O3NuHo to work until I got to command:
BCDedit /import c:\boot\BCD.temp

... the preceding BCDedit command produced these 2 messages:
The store import operation has failed.
The requested system device cannot be found.

So, my questions (:scared:) about that are:
1) It appears to be referring to "c:\boot\BCD.temp" as the "system device";
does anyone know for sure about that ?
2) Any ideas on how to proceed from there ?
3) Why would the BCDedit command create that "system device" and then
that same command say something it created "...cannot be found" ?
4) Are there complete working examples somewhere of the /export and /import
options ? (so I can study them from actual usage examples)

5) I'm just trying to get the PC to boot Windows 7; I have the license
but not the software DVD's--in fact, the EasyRE disc lets me browse
the PC disk and it shows me that the Windows software
is still on the PC disk--I just can't get the PC to boot into Windows
from the hard disk.
There must be a simple way to force it to boot; since the software
is already on the PC ? Any other ideas out there ?

I also attempted to ignore that preceding problem and went to the
next command in O3NuHo:
BCDedit /set {bootmgr} device partition=c:
But that command failed too.

BCDedit is apparently a MicroSoft utility; so maybe I should check with
MicroSoft forums too.

That *is* an example of a working command; it's not working on your PC, but it certainly works for others.

You might want to see if your partition is missing the boot/active flag w/ diskpart.

Could "diskpart" or check for "missing boot/active flag" be added to EasyRE discs ?

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that particular BCDedit usage (at the O3NuHo link I referenced) wasn't a working example;
rather, what I meant was I would like to see a few more complex examples -- and maybe an example
of the BCDedit command that uses both /import and /export options or some of the other possible options
on BCDedit--as a way of learning more about its usage.

If checking for the "missing boot/active flag" is not too complex, maybe that could
be added as an option (or automated) onto the EasyRE discs ? Then, if that DISKPART
command can resolve this issue, it would make the EasyRE discs even more useful.

After I send this reply, I will check-out the DISKPART command and see how I can use
it to do that flag-check--and/or how to alter it's setting on my PC, if needed.

Thanks for all your help and advice.
p.s.
On these forums, is it possible for each user to alter/set the sub-title/avatar name
which appears under their name; for example, the titles "Computer Guru" or "Toddler ....", etc.
Or, is it fixed-in-stone once it is set. I looked in the "profile" settings and couldn't find any reference to it.

EasyRE automates the checking for active partition flags and the repair if necessary. The Windows-based legacy repair CDs do not.

Only users past a certain number of posts can edit their "title."

I was getting this error while booting from the recovery CD, but left a USB drive plugged in. I think it was trying to write to the usb instead of the hard drive. Simple, but maybe worth a check.
