[2012 July 23]
Hi all, (maybe someone can help me :scared: with the following situation)
In using the "Win 7 (64 bit) EasyRE (Recovery Essentials)" disk,
options "one" and "two" failed to get my PC to boot from the hard drive;
SO, I HAD TO TRY O3NuHo ("Option Three: Nuclear Holocaust") as described here:
http://neosmart.net/wiki/display/EBCD/Recovering+the+Windows+Bootloader+from+the+DVD
I got all steps in O3NuHo to work until I got to command:
BCDedit /import c:\boot\BCD.temp
... the preceding BCDedit command produced these 2 messages:
The store import operation has failed.
The requested system device cannot be found.
So, my questions (:scared:) about that are:
1) It appears to be referring to "c:\boot\BCD.temp" as the "system device";
does anyone know for sure about that ?
2) Any ideas on how to proceed from there ?
3) Why would the BCDedit command create that "system device" and then
that same command say something it created "...cannot be found" ?
4) Are there complete working examples somewhere of the /export and /import
options ? (so I can study them from actual usage examples)
5) I'm just trying to get the PC to boot Windows 7; I have the license
but not the software DVD's--in fact, the EasyRE disc lets me browse
the PC disk and it shows me that the Windows software
is still on the PC disk--I just can't get the PC to boot into Windows
from the hard disk.
There must be a simple way to force it to boot; since the software
is already on the PC ? Any other ideas out there ?
I also attempted to ignore that preceding problem and went to the
next command in O3NuHo:
BCDedit /set {bootmgr} device partition=c:
But that command failed too.
BCDedit is apparently a MicroSoft utility; so maybe I should check with
MicroSoft forums too.
