Re-install XP on old drive when Vista is main OS

Then you're out of luck.

You'll have to either get a Windows 2000 CD or crack the Windows XP password with the use of one or more cracking programs.

I just bought a new computer, the old one was running xp and my new one has Vista. Can I just install the old hard drive in the new computer to access some files I forgot to back up?
Thanks,

I believed you can. The easiest way is using the network. Just Cut/Copy then paste. Then problem solved. But if you can't connect both computers you can transfer using portable drives. If not you can install your old hard disk to your new one, just make sure that you make the old one as secondary slave and booting from your new one. With this your old hard disk will be considered as a storage device then you can transfer all the files that you need.

Cheers!
