Hi there,

I`m currently running XP and Vista in dualboot..
I Have to have the Vista DVD in the cdrom drive for the boot manager to be displayed..
From there I can load both Vista and XP succesfuly.

The problem comes in if I remove the DVD or change to boot off my hardrive first in my BIOS instead of the CDROM..

If I load without the DVD it giver the XP error: hal.dll which meens my boot.ini is incorrect but it works fine if the vista dvd is in the drive?? I find this very strange.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks!!

Please don't triple post, it won't get you answers any faster!! Your other threads have been closed, please keep the discussion to this, one thread.

As for your problem:
Boot into Vista with the DVD in the drive. Once there, use EasyBCD -> Bootloader Management -> Reinstall Vista Bootloader -> Write MBR to fix the issue.
