VISTA x64 and Win 7 Pro dual boot prob

I have installed VISTA home premium x64 and Win 7 pro on separate drives.

I installed EasyBCD on the VISTA drive (C:\) and set it up to boot the Win 7 OS on another drive.

I get the following error

FILE windows\system32\winload.exe

STATUS 0xc0000428

Windows cannot verify the digital signature of this file

I can still boot Win 7 directly by setting that drive as the primary drive in BIOS...

Any ideas? will installing the V2.0 beta help?

Welcome to the forums Dave,

You're in luck. The latest beta of EasyBCD should be able to fix this problem:
Diagnostics Center page > Re-create boot files > Rescue my System!

Thanks for the advice, unfortunately loading the latest V2.0 beta does not resolve the problem and I still get same error when trying to start Win 7

yeah I had V1.7 installed on VISTA installation and installed V2 bete over the top and the installer prompted to remove V1.7...

I did as suggested when V2 beta was installed - Diagnostics Center page > Re-create boot files > Rescue my System!

Sill getting the error

FILE windows\system32\winload.exe

STATUS 0xc0000428

Windows cannot verify the digital signature of this file

When I try to select Win 7 in the boot menu

Any build of 2.0 from 66 onwards should fix that !
if you could attach Disk Management and "display settings" info as detailed at the end of the sticky thread I'll see if I can spot a reason.
Otherwise the workaround is to boot from the W7 drive and add a Vista entry to the W7 BCD.

Hi Terry,

thanks for the reply... attached what I think you require.

Both OS are on separate HDD

From the VISTA install the W7 is drive "E" and Drive "D" is the reserved partition that W7 created at install

From the Win 7 install the VISTA is drive "E"

Was there an error reported or any strange behaviour when you "recreated boot files" ?
Does "change boot drive" (to C:, where it already is - i.e. the same thing done a different way) do the job ?
If not, I'd use the previously mentioned workaround and raise a thread in the "bug" forum for CG, giving as much detail of your HDD config as possible (e.g. the graphic as well as the text part of DM, and type/connection of your HDDs (ide/sata))

no error or strange behaviour that I noticed.

Sorry but I dont understand what you mean here?? - figured it out and just about to test

If not, I'd use the previously mentioned workaround
so that means install/run BCD from W7 installation? Does that mean I cannot have VISTA as the default boot OS?

Addendum:

that does not resolve problem either

I have installed EasyBCD on the WIn 7 drive and made that the first boot device.

I have then set EasyBCD to make the VISTA OS the default OS

Works just fine that way

Thanks to all for advice and ideas

Thanks...

Just FYI, I had virtually the same problem -and the same fixed worked. I just booted to Win 7 and used easy2 to add the vista entry.

Thanks -it's always easier if someone else has the problem first.
