lmao, nice to see you too, Toxic :tongueout:

The whitespace on top of the bug is what's bothering me.... Have to fix that!

Sarge, you're kidding, right? Cuz as far as I can see, that's one sweet engine...

Talking about WOW...I just uninstalled World of Warcraft Trial Edition. It worked fine but just don't have the patience to learn all its intricacies.
I'll stick to my old fashioned arcade style games.

I think I'd like it - but I don't have the time to gamble away in front of the PC on WoW when I have so many other things that need to get done.... so I'm not going to risk getting addicted to it

WOW interface is very impressive, but there is so much to learn and so many controls plus the fact that it requires regular monetary input to keep going sort of turns me off.
I'm reasonably intelligent I think but I prefer things that are "no brainers" for recreation.

WoW stinks. You pay for the game then you have to pay a monthly fee to play it???

I will stick with games like CS:S, Halo and that where you buy the game and the online servers are free. No way you will see me pay to play agame after i bough it. Just not right.

Took the words out of my mouth

Exactly. I can tell Gabe that his Source Engine is crap :tongueout: developers know that their engines are full of holes and wrong things, no matter how good they are, and I'm evil enough to just say it and they think I know what am I talking about  Oh, I'm evil. :tongueout:

I played WoW, I usually didn't fight, what was interesting to me was running over that huge levels and see how are things made. I really liked some ideas in there. For example there was one dark woods and some big holes or what ever they are that I really liked  Bus as a game WoW didn't attract my eyes, partly cause I don't like RPG's, I don't like taking a quest and getting it done, I want nice story, linear well produced levels that can take my breath away. A game that takes you to adventure to show you some great experience that you enjoy.

Today I played Half Life 2 Episode Two and Bioshock on high details and max resolution on GeForce 8500, 1GB RAM, and some AMD X2 processor, thats all I know cause they didn't let me see the hardware info, anyways:

Half Life 2 Episode Two is really something special, I was "Wow..." when some bridge was collapsing... so many details, levels are wow.. (remind me to write an email to Gabe and tell him that his engine is better now :tongueout:) very very very beautiful game.

Bioshock is one work of art! Its so well produced I can't believe my eyes, like I was in some kind of movie.. the story is really interesting, I enjoyed so much  Those new technologies really make me feel like spending all my money on the new PC

Although I played each game for about half an hour, it was amazing.

So Sarge whats this top secret place youre playing these games on?

Plus are Episode Two Graphics different than Episode One and HL2?
Just wondering because Ep1 didnt look too different than Hl2

Lol, public Internet cafe where you can play WoW and other games...

Last source tech demo was Half Life 2: Lost Coast, and in Ep 1 they changed it a bit to suite and set the scenes better. But in Ep 2, I don't know, I didn't listen to commentary

Anyways, I'm getting Ep2 soon, and I'll be happy to let you know did they changed the engine or not :grinning:

I HAVE Half Life 2 Episode Two right in front of me :grinning:

I'll install Windows XP on Vista partition cause in this XP I have a lot of things installed and they all take RAM more or less, so for the better performance I'll install another XP, SP1 this time

I'll rename vista partition "Half Life" so I know where to install new XP.

Wish me luck!

good luck!!!! anyone hear of a game called Lost Planet, it turns out thats the first game that was released with DX10. However, it says they only used DX10 to improve performance not graphics, how is that?

Yeah I know Lost Planet, first it was made for 360, later came out for PC. Very nice game.

Hm.. I'm not sure about your theory about DX10. Engine is peace of art. :lup:

Under the assumption that what you said is correct, that is possible by moving some of the effects from the CPU to the graphics card.

DirectX is basically a big library of code that does stuff. Each version of DX brings new features to that library. So they could have had code that was once implemented in the software running the CPU - then with the DX10 support they moved that bit of code to run on the graphics card instead.

However, most other modern games now offer DX10 to provide not just processing on the graphics card but also additional effects - the end result is that DX10 on Vista is slower than DX9 on XP, but it looks nicer too.

Another question, is it just me or are games getting shorter? is that because it sharder to program now and thus they have to make them shorter? or is it so that they can have more sequels? i mean i was playing doom3 and it is very long, same with halo1. Are those just exceptions?

Hmmmmm! Interesting questions, long game is when you have about 25 hours of playing, more or less. Some games today are okay even with 8 hours of playing, so can be done in one afternoon. So... if you wanna play more, finish it few times. :tongueout:

To me Halo 1 wasnt that long. After actually sitting down and oging thru it the game was only about 9 hours long. If that. That is on Legendary as well. The game wasnt as long as it seemed. I got thru it for the first time on legendary playing it only a couple hours a day for 3 days. That is about 6 hours max that it took me.

Doom 3 that one is a bit longer. Still ahvent beat it. FEAR seems like it si a long game as well.

Today it seems they are going for looks rather than substance.
