The Introduction Thread

I joined because the Windows Secrets newsletter had a mention in the latest issue for EasyBCD, and I needed clarification on the supported platforms. The description says it is "answer to tweaking the new Windows Vista bootloader." While that doesn't explicitly exclude Windows XP, it sounds like it isn't made for XP.

I am primarily interested in using this to replace the kludgy MSCONFIG utility in XP, especially as it relates to the Service and Startup tabs.

TIA,
Dan

EasyBCD is an app for configuring the Vista/7 BCD.
It will run on XP (provided NET 2.0 framework is available as a pre-req), but only has a function if XP is part of a multi-boot with Vista/7
It's not needed on an XP-only system because there is no BCD to configure.
The boot is controlled via the XP equivalent to the BCD which is "boot.ini".
This is a simple text file, so you don't need a specialist app, any text editor will manipulate the contents.

Hello

Welcome to the forum Angie, not often anyone posts here for the first time without a desperate plea for help as the prime motive.

Well its the search for help that mostly bring a newbie to a forum. Its just how the noob goes about the 'help me' process. I'd just like to say hi and I'm not in need of help yet. Lol

Noob or no noob we're all in need of help at some point or another. When you do we'll be here to help you through it
