Computer Gaming

My brothers coming today and i get a ton of games, plus finals almost finished so 24 hours a day :smile::smile:
hes hopefulyy bringing:
Graw 1 and 2, bioshock, quake4, Hellgate:london, Half-life 2: Ep.2, Halo2 and a couple more. SO i wont be sleeping anytime soon.
Did anybody play hellgate:london?

i started a game in hellgate last night, played for a couple hours ^_^

its pretty fun, and a little scary, alot of the "demons" just spawn in places, and anything normal "zombies" are always just walking about anyways. its very much like diablo

Bad news about HL2 EP2: My dad started playing it, so now I have to wait until he is done with it.

Good news about HL2 EP2: They fixed lighting! Now we have sun shadow on all characters and objects and player's lamp also reflects shadows! This is something I really hated Source Engine about.

i have found myself a new addiction :frowning:

EVE Online - a massive multiplayer online roleplaying space game - MMORPG

its a space ship based MMO its VERY Deep and very addictive, although i havent played it in 24 hours ^_^ thats a good thing

ill upload some screenshots tomorrow into photobucket and share them ^_^

the game has two graphic engines, one classic and premium, you have classic by default and you can download premium if your machine can handle it

i am currently running premium and its much more pretty then classic ^_^ (you will see the difference when i upload some pictures ^_^)

Would this be a premium engine?

*can't wait for Donald's shots :tongueout:*

^ it is most likely the premium engine ^_^

i still havent figured out how to remove the HUD to take pictures so they will all have the HUD/interface on them :frowning:

(Note these are all Classic engine images.)
(from the left to the right top row)
1 - Starter Ship for the race i chose
2 - a panned view to the right of my ship to look at a star
3 - approaching a Station
(L-R second row)
4 - a Stargate, used for System to System Jumping
5 - my second Frigate class ship
(L-R Third row)
6 - My frigate and another frigate "merged" after undocking from the station, 5 seconds "merged" will bump both ships apart
7 - Mining Ore from an asteroid

---

ill upload more next post

(sorry i didnt have any room, the pictures are large and i didnt get to the premium engine. )

looks like a nice game. cool graphics. im not really much of an online rpg game type of guy. i never got hooked on it. the only one i really know is runescape because my younger brother used to play it alot

Addendum

Well im playing Bioshock right now and it looks like a nice game. only problem is that some stuff glow in the dark. is that supposed to happen or is it a shader problem? i have shaders on lowest

Okay man! Waiting for the premium, those didnt take my breath away.

Yeah, although in World of Warcraft documentation says you need at least 56kbps (dial-up) to play, I wouldn't say so.

We're supposed to have amongst the worst network speeds in the "civilized" world here in UK, and one of our TV programs (It's called "The Gadget Show" and is aimed at techie geeks like a few here I imagine !) has been running a campaign for honesty in broadband speed claims. Some of you might even have met the presenter online, he's a self confessed gaming addict, who recently accepted an on air challenge to get himself into the Utube top 10 video clips, and succeeded by doing a caterpillar break dance move all over London, which ended up with millions of hits ! But that's another story.
My broadband provider (3rd day now !) tested my line before I signed up and said that it should be capable of 6.5Mb/s when the service has bedded in. I speed tested it twice shortly after it was installed, and it clocked then at a whisker under 4Mb/s.
That seems like well oiled lightning compared to what I've been used to for 7 years. How does it compare to things where you all are ?

Well-oiled lightning indeed, Terry!

I'm 1024/256 for the first 10GB transferred each month, then it drops down to 128/256 until the month is up - 52 dollars a month.

We're probably near the bottom of the "uncivilized" worlds here :grinning:

I'm paying £24 ($48ish) for this service bundle, which incudes unlimited downloads, free evening and weekend phone calls on the land line, line rental, and a free anytime international 2nd phone line (VoIP). The service is rated at "up to" 8Mb/s, though, due in some measure I expect to the previously mentioned campaign, they did say I shouldn't expect better than 6.5.
Perhaps things aren't as bad here as we're told.

The US has some of the worst internet speed issues from what i have read/seen

not only is broadband infiltration very low, but the low competition with companies that offer the high speeds causes high prices

i just heard recently that the TV company that gives cable and Fiber line for internet that just started a new way to charge, based on how much you download/upload they give you a standard DL/UL rate and if you go over your slammed with VERY high fees.

i however am on my schools network, so thus i have "high speed" and yet i am very restricted based on the overall use of the network at any given time

one way to measure this is my "Ping" with the COD4 servers i play on, if virtually no one is on campus, maybe 50-100 people i might get below 300 ping, (the limit to play on the servers)

as for EVE and internet, i have had no "lag" from play, any problems i have had are my graphics engine problems.

the minium to run Eve is 56K+ so i would expect many people can play, i mean i can play EVE with my COD4 ping being as high as 900-1200 ^_^

---

Pictures now:
(note all are on premium engine, but i lowered the settings down some, do remember, this isnt the prettiest the game can look, but it is almost there)
(Left to right like the last set)
1 - my third frigate, inside a station, i had to "train" my frigate skill to three which took about 17Hours
2 - a panned view to the left of a passing star.
3 - my second frigate, with two lasers on each side.
next row
4 - second firgate flying out to start gate.
5 - A drill, the description said that it was very old and nothing on it was worth salvaging.
last row
6 - my newest frigate, it is also the largest yet, however it is used more for fighting then mining and thus has a smaller cargo bay.

more if i play again later

---

Other wise i got System Shock 2 to work today and i played that for a couple hours, pretty kool, and if you know what "bioshock" is you might want to know, this game and the one before came well before bioshock
