What is a recovery and repair disk

Windows 7 LogoMajor PC manufacturers no longer give customers a real Windows 7 installation DVD along with their purchase of a computer.

A Windows 7 installation DVD can be used to recover your PC, not just install a Windows 7 copy. The DVD has a “recovery center” that gives you options to Automated Recovery (attempts to fix automatically any errors found), System Restore (restores your computer to the last working state) or you can access a command-line for advanced recovery options.

Instead, customers are expected to create a recovery media themselves – on a CD, DVD or USB drive.

Your computer’s hard drive might have a recovery partition added by the manufacturer, but what happens when your PC or Windows isn’t working or you’ve lost the disks you had?

If you can’t boot into Windows or your PC isn’t working, only a bootable recovery and repair CD/DVD/USB can save you.

    1. I have windows 8 and geting “Operating system not found” message, will this download help?

    2. The OS I was running on my laptop when I got the blue screen of death was Window 7 Ultimate with bitlocker encryption enabled. Would I purchase the Professional Windows 7 recovery disk? Would this allow me to use my bitlocker key to fix the corrupt files that are causing the unmountable_boot_volume error. At this point the bitlocker key reads and Windows tried to boot but keeps getting the error. When I tried to boot from a Windows CD that my friend had I could not get past the bitlocker key stage even though I have a key on USB and the typeable recovery key. The computer said “next” but would not do anything. Thanks!

    3. Put a second drive into my PC and without realizing it, it had an OS on it. PC booted off wrong drive and messed up the boot manager on the original OS. I tried everything in vain till I found this site. Was worried about paying for the software but went ahead.

Very please to say that the instructions were precise, the download, burning of CD / DVD seamless and the restore went perfect. So nice to find a company that delivers its promise.

Thank you so much. (windows 7 Ultimate)

    4. i have a computer that wont boot up boot my other laptops CD drives dont work can i load the program onto a flash drive and boot from there?

Si tuvieras los discos de recuperación para Windows 8 me salvarías de un aprieto. Saludos desde Bolivia

    7. I’m sorry, I’m confused. I would like to restore my Windows 7 PC to the original factory settings and state. Will this download allow me to do that?

    8. Excellent tool…a must have in my opinion. I just repaired a windows 8 system that would not boot. Using all the Microsoft website info I could find and the non destructive repair options on the W8 disk (other than a reisntall) the outcome was negative. I have had the W7 version for some time too. I am not a tech. Buy it now and keep it safe ….you will save yourself some problems down the track.

    9. I have Vista and recentyl upon attempting to start my computer all I get is a blank screen after the windown thing does its little scrooing deal across the bottom of the screen. I have tried to do both the regular and the “fix it” start as well as the reboot from the esc screen and nothing is working. It just keeps going to the blank screen with the cursor. WIll the recovery disk fix that? Also I can’t download it to a disc because I can’t turn on the computer and all I have is my work one so is there a place I can actually purchase a disk from? Thanks to anyone who can help me!

    14. Acer Aspire about 2 years old. Something went wrong and a month ago recovered from partition to factory settings. It was fine for few weeks and now OS does not start. I have W7 screen (with lines, flower, honey bird ?) and cursor, no usual signs, no log in fields. Searched the web and did not find anybody with similar problem. Tried with F10 , F8 , and F2 but again return to the same “blank “ W7 screen. Can you help?

    15. My Windows 7 HP DV6 crashed:
Before purchase, I would be grateful if you please inform if it will work.
      What I did:
      – Tried to recover through System Repair, which continued for several hours but nothing happened.
      – Stopped Recovery when the screen appeared and shut down the computer
      – Afterward F11 key did not start Recovery module.
      – Removed the corrupted hard disc and replaced with a new one
      – Mounted the original hard disc in a USB and attached to another computer
      – It showed the drive ’empty’ which contains the data
      – It did show the Recovery and HP Tools drives

I did not format it (the original) as yet. Do you think, if it is possible to retrieve data from the drive which shows ’empty’?
If yes, then I will purchase your software and replace the original hard drive in the same computer OR is it possible to run your CD on other computer and retrieve the data by attaching the hard drive in to the USB port?

    17. I have Acer Aspire laptop with Win 7 boot mgr errors 0xc00000e9 and 0xc000000f. “Windows failed to start. Insert Windows installation disc..” This disc did not come with my laptop purchase. Will your Win 7 Recovery disc restore my Win 7, fix the startup errors, etc… and not lose/erase my existing documents, programs, etc. that are on my internal hard drive? Windows was preparing to configure my laptop when I accidentally turned off the power button. Then I received the above status errors and Windows boot manager messages.

    22. I am getting the 0xc000000e windows failed to start error on a customers lappy. They want to keep the price down (as I can get the HP discs fairly cheap) will the home edition fix their problem?

    23. Why mouse & keyboard doesn’t work? My computer hang in the page of select a recovery option. I have to shut down the computer. Retry again, it’s also doesn’t work. Why?

    24. Silvia, if your using usb mouse and keyboard, you may need to re-enable USB Keyboard, and USB mouse support in your Bios menu, probably under something called Integrated peripherals, Or the advanced Bios Options, if your able to use your keyboard to press f8 or delete or esc for w/e your bios shortkey is, then that is exactly the issue, cause if Keyboard and mouse stop working immediately after the time period it takes for the computer to get passed Manufacturer logo’s loading screen, which is first thing you see upon turning on the PC is the only time you can see if your keyboard works at beginning, so if it does, you need to enable usb Keyboard and mouse in your bios. If that’s not the issue then you may need to reinstall your usb port drivers….Or enable Plug and Play.

    25. Also the only reason your bios cmos should reset back to default settings on its own is probably due to that quarter sized battery could be dead, that battery is meant to provide the computer power when its off so the date, time, location, and bios settings stay synced, if that battery were dead, your computer will reset cmos to default, lose the correct date and time, which causes browsing issues with certificate validation, since Certificate is being validated by a computer that thinks its 2008, so validation fails as a result. If you notice any of these issues, you need a new battery.

    26. will it format my laptop cause i have a lot of necessary information my laptop is (Sony VAIO laptop windows 7 starter)?

    32. Hi there! I have burned the Easy Recovery Essentials to bring back to life my Toshiba Satellite A505 which displays this error message after powering on my laptop – “Bootmgr is missing. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart’ (I started to run a full system restore to its factory settings and tried to cancel it and got this Bootmgr is missing error on my PC). I am placing the burned CD into my Toshiba, see a lot of options, but … how to boot it now? Automated Repair option is not working for me. Any help? Thank you very much!

    33. I have a dell inspiron n7010. It stops at configuring loopback in the boot. I have tried booting from CD and from USB drives and same thing. Can boot other computers with the same media and it boots fine. Any ideas?

    34. I just want to say that I was sceptical that this was going to be another way of spending money without success.

I also want to say. WOW! what a product, what support and IT WORKS!

      Thanks,

      Larry B

    35. Hello!

Is there a version # or date on your CD? If I ordered the Windows 7 CD several years ago (It has Copyright 2012), is there a newer version if I buy and download today? Is this program being supported and actively updated by NeoSmart??

(Your website doesn’t seem to have revision #s, revision dates, change histories, etc. for your software, so it is difficult to deduce if we have the latest and greatest.)

      I appreciate your help!

    36. I used system recovery media to clear problems on my Dell PC. I don`t have a disk, and have no option to reset my password.

    37. Where do I save of get certificate? It’s not the most user friendly for a novice like myself. But I appreciate any help you can give me. I’m also having trouble getting BIOS to come up. Which key is it, I’ve tried them all?
      Thanks

    38. I had a HP windows vista cpu and it crashed. I had it rebuilt and it is now a Sona Vaio. The guy download Windows 7 ulitmate with the spi pack on it.
My computer states that it is not a genuine copy of windows 7 and it needed a “key” number to validate it. I entered the “key” number and now it states that the system is not licensed. I just want my system to run with a valid system. I have a HP recovery disc for Windows Vista and was wondering if I could download it on my cpu and be okay. What can I do. As you can tell I know nothing about computers. Can some one help me. Thanks, Rosann

    39. Ran the recovery disk (Win 7).
Appears to be working but a reboot results in BSOD with the following message
      UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME.
      Please advise.

    40. I just want to say thank you so much for the information on this site! I accidentally erased a key windows component and my computer could no longer load windows. My recovery disks were not working and this laptop did not come with installation disks. I was ready to throw it in the trash. I found your website. You made it so easy to get it up and running again. Thank you again!

    41. Tried Windows7 64b x64 recovery to factory settings. Last step is “Setup is starting services’. Wouldn’t complete and was instructed to click OK to restart. Still couldn’t finish. I think I know why. I use IOBIT’s Advanced System Care for routine maintenance. I also use it’s Turbo Boost feature which shuts down unneccessary services for gaming performance. I may have forgotten to restore services with Turbo Boost to “work” mode and the recovery program can’t start them. Will your repair disk fix the problem?
