3. Hi, I did a really dumb thing trying to Restore my computer because my room mate (ex) decided to delete some things off my hard drive. I did too many system restores and now it won’t boot up Vista at all, not even under the Safe or Normal boot. I get an error message stretched across the screen, don’t remember what it says, but then that’s all I get.
   Will your recovery disc work for me in this situation? I cannot purchase the original startup disc or recovery disc from the manufacturer, they are not available. Please help me ??????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot afford to spend money on anything that won’t fix my computer’s problem. I am on limited monthly income. Thanks.

7. How to easily recover EasyBCD setup after performing a Windows7 ‘Repair your computer’ option on the installation CD.
   I have the EasyBCD 2.2 installed on Windows7, SP1
   64-bit sys. This system has five, each are one TB SATA hard drives. The BIOS shows the make & model of each one. The trouble is all the HDs are the same make and model and size, the only BIOS distinction between them is the port number, which only the hardware seems to find useful. Last time I had to go through this it was a lot of trouble to reinstall EasyBCD after performing that Repair, getting the right partition to line up with what EasyBCD needed. Even haveing a backup file handy that was created from EasyBCD did not completely help this. I had a lot of trial and error before getting it working. I currently have the ‘System Reserved’ partition visible as W: so that ShadowProtect backup can see it.
   Any suggestions to make life a bit easier beyond Aspirin?

8. Ok, I´m thinking of buying the disc – I’m having the problem that ‘one of my files is missing or corrupt’ – preventing me from booting up. Previously it was the software file, now it says it is the system file.

   My laptop has Vista. I have a disc for windows 7, and the laptop (Dell) can read the disc but it still does nothing.

   More important than anything for me is recovering the data on the HDD. How can I do this using the disc? Will I have to buy an external hard drive…or is it possible to transfer the files to a USB for example?

   Without any idea what to do after all this (as it?s not listed on website above), I have guessed I need to run EasyBCD. Great, but how? I cannot run it from the (possible) Ubuntu interface (no ?run? command seems to work), I cannot run it from a USB with the program installed, and as noted above I cannot access Safe Mode.

   So, basically, I am completely stuck. I think I need to get it to boot ?back? to Windows, but not to the ?Other User? log on. I cannot access Safe Mode. I cannot do anything with the (possible) Ubuntu) interface.

   Any clues?

15. Will the Vista Recovery get me to the point where I can re-flash my bios? I am able to enter bios and define the boot order of disks, set time / date and what not, but I notice that the bios version that is being reported by the desktop (version 5.31) is not consistent with the bios version documented on Compaq’s website (version 5.27). Am I correct in assuming that this VISTA recovery ISO will allow me to in essence to re-flash my bios?

16. Terrence, this CD will likely not work for reflashing your BIOS. We don’t recommend upgrading BIOS firmware unless you have a really good reason, as it can damage your hardware permanently if done in an incorrect fashion.

17. Understood on not attempting to reflash the BIOs. But in this instance, due to processes of elimination, I believe that with the BIOS versions currently in effect that is not consistent with the last known reported BIOS from the HP/Compaq website, I have no choice but to attempt to reflash the BIOS. Memory checks show good memory, good CPU function, good hard drive surface scan testings, Used different Memory sticks, swapped out HD drives, reformatted both driver using win XP Pro, ensure all PCI slots are empty, but Win XP Pro fails to install windows with a BSOD indicating a page fault in a non paged area. Sounds like a bios issue. What do you think?

    I downloaded the rec. disc from your website, and used it.. however my PC now starts LINUX instead of Windows Vista…? Am i doing something wrong or is it just a mix up in downloads ( which i can hardly imagine)

21. Mahmoud, thank you for making this important utility available to those in need. It has really saved the day for retrieving my valued files from an HP Pavilion Laptop ! I still have a recovery problem however… your utililty didn’t repair the MBR problem on the Vista Partition, BUT NEITHER DID THE STARTUP REPAIR FEATURE ( via F11 Onboard Vista System environ. This is a 2007 dv6409 Notebook, and the Vista Utility won’t identify the existing installed VISTA partition, BUT YOUR SOFTWARE WILL. Is there a way to fix the MBR on The VISTA partition after trying all your software’s FIX MBR feature has failed ? MANY, MANY Thanks ! -Jesse

When I ejected and restarted the computer it gives me an Other User option with no username or password. The original username and password isn’t working. What do I do? Have I lost my data. 25. I purchased and downloaded your EasyRE for Windows Vista in order to recover my daughter’s laptop back in July 2012. I followed the instructions and burned the iso file to a CD and booted using the disc on a Dell Inspiron 1545 Vista laptop. I chose the Automated Repair. From there I had the same problems described by the following fellows message pulled from your Neosmart Technologies comments. I attempted to get help at the time and got short answers that did not help me resolve the issues at all. At the time I became extremely frustrated with the product, lack of support or empathy and
    just set it all aside.

    I am now trying to use EasyRE again to get the laptop back to running Windows and am encountering the same problems. I boot with the CD and the automatic repair doesn’t work, using a command prompt doesn’t help as it boots into Ubuntu or something Linux and I don’t know their command
    structure, if I boot into Ubuntu that doesn’t provide any obvious way to recover Vista, and if I let the laptop boot from the hard drive I get the “Other User” log in mentioned in sevrals comments. There were only two recovery points shown and trying either of them yields the same “Other User” login. Any suggestions as to what to try next? Is there a known problem with certain computers. Is all hope lost and do I need to go to the Geek Squad? Did my download not include the EasyBCD?

26. Have Vista on Acer 4400. 2 weeks ago would not boot up. Thought it might be battery, so boutght new one. Booted up successfuly sveral times. Now will not boot up. When I power up, it flashes 3 times, hestitates and flashes 3 times and powers down. Bought and burned easyRE for Windows Vista.iso to cd successfully. Put in drive, pressed power buttom and sames thing happens.- will not boot up from drive. Any ideas?? Thanks so much!

27. Had a half-dead Vista laptop, and nothing, but nothing, that I could do made a difference. I could get it to boot partially in various modes, but it would always stop at a certain point and go no farther. I downloaded this disc, burned it to a CD and booted off of it, chose Automatic Recovery, and PRESTO!!! Everything is working perfectly. Couldn’t be easier. Thanks so much!

34. This tool is the real deal. I no longer had the recovery disks for my Windows Vista OS that crashed and all attempts at repair were unsuccessful. I downloaded the file, burned it to a CD and used it to boot from. The repair wasn’t successful (it likely could be, I just got impatient) but the Back Up File function is working like a dream. Transferring all my thought-to-be lost files to a CD as I write this. Well worth the $19.95 — cheaper and less headache (and way quicker) than taking it in to the Geek Squad or the like.

40. Hello 🙂 I’m very interested in getting this. I have a blue screen on my Dell Studio XPS 1640 for Vista and the error says Unmountable_Boost_Volume. Even the safe mode window goes back to the blue screen and even the repair window screen goes back to the blue screen of death 🙁 I don’t mind if I can’t get the pc to work again, I just need all my stuff off the laptop. Will this help me recover my pictures, music, software programs, etc? I am desperate. I will have lost everything because I didn’t have an external hard drive to back it up. 🙁 Looking forward to a response before purchasing this. Thanks so much! 🙂

42. I am so glad I came across this website or I’d be stuck paying for a clean install. I bought Vista and 7 Home because a friend’s OS was so corrupted/lost that it was stuck at “Please wait…” 80% of the time or didn’t even know what to do at the Login screen the other 20% of the time. The 7 Home worked wonders. It found so many things wrong with the Boot files and fixed them all and then some. It took 3 minutes to download both ISO files, 2 minutes to make two CDs, 4 minutes to recover, and only $20.00 each. It saved me so much money since the computer never came with an option to buy a recovery disc.

43. I ran the windows automatic repair, it finished and then I took the disc out and restarted the computer. I got the gateway sign and then the screen turned a light blue. I cant see my mouse I am just stuck on a light blue screen. Did I pay 20 bucks to have my processor wiped out

    Read the above posts, it tells you it doesnt reinstall it returns your machine to the state it was in immediately prior to the crash!

    What I want to know after reading the above is does my problem cost me 20.00 or do I have to buy two ISOs at 20.00 each, and if so, why???? Does it cost 20.00 or does it cost 40.00?

    If I go ahead now and purchase this tool, will it work on multiple machines that have vista installed, or is it a one time only use disc/image?

    This is potentially very good so I hope someone can come back with answers to the above…

47. Got the DVD and rebooted. Got some way to recovery …(at least I see a screen that looks vaguely familiar) but the system is lookng for “Other User”…it doesn’t see my old user name and password. Makes no difference what I type in (or don’t type in) the system says “The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted” and then I’m stuck. Any ideas on how to proceeed?
